QUADOA® Optical CAD Training Seminar
2 Day Training Seminar
The 2-day training seminar offers an introduction to optics development with QUADOA® Optical CAD. Step by step, participants familiarize themselves
with the features and functions of the software.
On the first day, the training class participants will learn how to set-up, analyze, and optimize an optical system with QUADOA®. In addition to an introduction to the graphical user interface of QUADOA®, basic optical principles will be taught by experienced optical design experts.
The main purpose of this first day is to enable participants to develop optimized optical design drafts and evaluate their performance against different criteria.
The second day covers “advanced” features needed for the optical design process, like set-up of multiple configurations, more complicated optimization, sensitivity analysis, tolerancing, mechanical STEP import, and much more.
At the end of the second day, participants will be able to develop complex optical design drafts and assess their as-built performance.
During the 2-day training seminar, it will be possible to take topic requests from participants into account and to review individual optical design set-ups.
After the two days of training, the participants are able to independently carry out simple and advanced optical design tasks with QUADOA® Optical CAD.

Day 1
System set-up: Shapes (components and surfaces), 3D set-up, Materials and catalogues, Sequence definition, Source definition
Analysis: Spot, Aberrations, MTF
Optimization: Basic optimization (EFFL, WFE, etc.), Basic math expressions (e.g. thickness constraints)
Day 2
System set-up: Multi-configurational set-up, Coating definition
Optimization: Multi-sequence /multi-configuration optimization, Handling ghosts
Sensitivity Analysis: Tolerance table set-up, Compensator definition, Sensitivity analysis menu and output
Tolerancing: MC simulation menu and output
Mechanics: STEP import / export
Seminar Instructors: Dr. Tim Baldsiefen and Kseniia Zavatskaia
Dr. Tim Baldsiefen has more than 12 years of optical design and engineering experience with optical systems in the area of lithography, imaging and laser- and material-processing.
Mr. Baldsiefen has held several leading positions in optical engineering in the leading industry such as head of optical design at JENOPTIK Optical Systems GmbH.
Kseniia Zavatskaia has 5 years of optical design and engineering experience in areas of security and surveillance, interferometry, imaging and biomedical sensing. Besides design expertise, Kseniia posesses broad experiences in lens adjustment and quality control in manufacturing

Audience
The training seminar is dedicated primarily to an audience working in the optical industry. Besides optical engineers, this training seminar is also of interest for mechanical engineers who are serving in the optical industry. Participants should already have a basic or advanced knowledge of optics and optical design concepts.
